We customize anything. We don't really work with restoring things though. We're not comfortable with delicate finishes. Unless you just want it stripped and oiled or waxed.
Customizing starts at $150.00 for smaller, fairly flat pieces and goes up depending on how much work is involved. Most Larger Dressers will start at $250.00. Knob and Pull replacement is an additional $50.00 to start, again, varies on choices and how many need replacing.
It will save you money to try and either sand or strip a piece yourself. We generally wax all pieces as a finish however if it is going to get a LOT of high traffic, we can discuss other finishes.
PAINTED CHAIR and JD Liqour Cabinet - DO NOT ATTEMPT without reading this! First off - I wrote Jack Daniels Legal Team directly and got permission to use their label on this piece as it is a liqour cabinet for us ..... not for resale, but wanted to show you that things ARE possible if you ask and play by the rules. Second - here is the PAINTED CHAIR. I still want to paint the legs white I think ... and maybe add a large damask on the back. It turned out to be quit convincing! Its not hard and crusty, it doesnt come off on your clothes, and I've already washed a few droplets of paint off it ...... and nothing ran ... so there you have it - it IS do-able providing you find the right recipe for the fabric you are using. This was a combination of 4 different liquids and a lot of labour. WHY WOULD YOU PAINT A CHAIR you ask? Well ask yourself this - if you were going to reupholster it, how much would that cost, and what would you do with the old material? Well, here now we saved the old material from being thrown in the dump, and it only cost my time and $25.00 .........
I fell in love with the mahogany poking through. So instead of painting, I "chipped it more" to create a show through of the natural wood as use of the textural "bark" feel on the old tree. Inspiration - Birch Bark and a set of dishes handed down to me. Love it!
We got him full of Holes, gouges and scratches, He had a lot of custom plaster work done, and finished with a hammered metal sleek black. Custom glass cut for the top and he is ready for a home.
This is a classic example of how we can help you turn your piles of Dump Runs into rustic charm for your own Garden Decor! Read the HELP ME page for more information!
This was a fun one to do! The handpainted lettering on top took quite some time, however, once it was finished, we added a poly topcoat to protect it. We wanted to give it a feel of an actual Mocha. Dark rich chocolaty bottom with a smooth frothy top.
Clearly in need of some work. The top was restored then the bottom was painted and had a lot of work with light and dark waxes. The original knobs are still on it. A lot of fun.
Customer wanted something to fit in the landing at the bottom of her stairs. She sent in a photo of the space, measurements needed, and a variety of photos depicting finishes she liked. We settled on a minimal black distress with knob and pull replacements and found this piece to fit perfectly!
She was HUGE pain! Not only did she weigh about 24848 tonnes, but she was missing runners, hardware and needed a LOT of strip work and speacialty paints. She got a tobacco glaze and wax for the finishing touches. Total cost of an overhaul like this is about $400 - give or take $50
Our Very first piece once we settled in Peterborough. A friend was about to toss this sad beauty when we thought hmmmmmmm, wouldnt that be a great Hallway table all rustic looking? So we replaced the 4 drawers, with a little shifting of the guts and made a cute little hall table.
Well, here's what we do with boring old trunks! We glorify them and repurpose them into the most comfortable little settees! This beauty was adopted by local photogrpaher - Glimpse Imaging.ca for use in the Rock The Dress Photo Shoots.
We went a little harder on the distressing with these chairs. And for some reason, it makes me crave that tiger-ish ice cream!
She came to us beggin' to be madeover. After a hardware change, stripping, fresh Chocolate Brown Paint and some distressing, she was beaming and off to Port Hope!
There were A LOT of layers of oil paint, poorly done on this gal. She took almost a whole day to strip. Her refinishing options were to then get distressed more, or have a tobacco glaze added. Then completed with a wax. A job like this would be around $300
This was very minimally distressed
It was finished with an Umber Glaze that is hard to see in theis photo, however, to go with the neutral tones and dark brown leather sofa and vintage french decor, the customer requested something to match. This pulled in the wall colours, surrounding decor and furnishings.
